By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to obey the command: "Be holy, for I am holy." You may have heard the saying, "cleanliness is next to Godliness." the truth of that saying is that "cleanliness" is a whole being experience. It is next to Godliness because God is the only one that can provide that whole being cleansing mental, physically, and spiritually.

God does not stop there. His desire goes beyond our cleanliness. His desire is for us to be holy, just as he is holy. Our sanctification is a daily experience of dedicating ourselves to God so we can draw closer to him. He knows that we cannot draw closer to Him on our own, and so He sends His Holy Spirit to empower us to discern and take action to be righteous and truly live life. "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." This Holy Spirit connection is restated in Scripture over and over, "And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee." God gives us His Spirit together so that we build our relationship with Him and build relationship with each other as His family. As a family we can then encourage each other to live to it's full as God our Father desires.

Our daily sanctification through His Holy Spirit brings now gives us the ability to identify with Christ, as sons of God. His desire has always been to spend eternity with Him, "... when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God."

The best part of being an heir is that you share in the history of the work yet all the work that built the inheritance has been done. You as am heir then have the opportunity to work from a foundation of success to continue in that success. As an heir of God you connect and share in all he has done, and all he will do. He has done the hardest work for us which is defeat death through Christ's death on the cross and resurrection, which is the act that provides us the daily ability to be sanctified.
