God wants us to have this gift. A gift is something you receive not take. Many times we seek the gift rather than the giver. God wants us to seek hard after Him with the right reasons to be filled. Sometimes we get upset for God not filling us with the Holy Spirit right. There are some things that can hold back the promise. Have you considered there being any garments weighing you down like unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, hate, or living on the fence or lukewarm. If you are wearing any of these garments run to God He is your loving Heavenly Father who will forgive you when you confess it (throwing off the garments).
